Frequently Asked Questions
What is CBM and why does it matter for shipping?
CBM (cubic metres) measures the volume your cargo occupies. Forwarders and carriers use it to plan container/space allocation and, for LCL and some air shipments, as part of the pricing basis alongside weight.
Should I measure the carton or the pallet?
Measure whichever unit will actually be loaded and shipped — if cartons are palletised, measure the outer pallet dimensions (including any overhang) rather than each individual carton.
Is this CBM figure exactly what I'll be charged?
No — this is a volume calculation for planning only. Actual charges also depend on weight, service type, carrier rates and any minimums, so always confirm final pricing with TGF or your carrier.
