Frequently Asked Questions

How is landed cost calculated here?

This follows the standard CIF-based Thai customs formula: CIF = product value + freight + insurance. Duty = CIF × duty rate%. VAT is then charged on CIF + duty (not on CIF alone) — VAT = (CIF + duty) × VAT rate%. Landed cost = CIF + duty + VAT, plus any extra fee lines you add.

Where does the duty rate come from?

You enter it yourself. Thai import duty depends on your product's HS Code classification, and this tool has no verified duty-rate table to look one up from. The Thai Customs Department (customs.go.th) is the authoritative source for HS Code classification and duty rates — confirm your product's rate there or with a licensed customs broker before relying on this figure.

Why does the VAT default to 7%?

7% is Thailand's standing standard VAT rate. It's provided only as an editable starting point — VAT rates can change, so confirm the current rate before relying on it, and adjust the field if your situation uses a different rate.

Is this figure an official customs assessment?

No. This is a planning estimate only, not an official customs determination. Actual duty depends on your product's HS Code classification, and Thai Customs may assess value or classification differently. Confirm with Thai Customs or a licensed customs broker before relying on this figure.
