Regulatory approval or registration for the specific product in the destination country is typically a prerequisite for clearance, separate from standard customs valuation and classification — a product approved for sale in the origin country isn't automatically cleared for import elsewhere, and this should be confirmed with a broker and the destination market's own regulator well before the shipment departs.

Beyond the standard commercial invoice, packing list, and transport document, pharmaceutical shipments typically need product-specific export authorization and destination-country import approval or registration, plus temperature monitoring records and batch/lot documentation that vary by product and country and should be confirmed case by case rather than assumed uniform.

A temperature excursion that goes undetected without a complete monitoring record, documentation gaps holding a shipment at customs while regulatory status is verified, and inadequate cold storage at a transfer point are the main risk areas to plan around.
